He's guaranteed $32 million next year + the buyout. The only question is whether or not they agree to some sort of deal for him to play 2024 (ie 1 year, $10 mil) or if they just pay the buyout and he retires after 2023.

I think it's great that when Votto gets into Cooperstown there's going to be a whole pile of sad people who think they're Reds fans.

Votto, like most players,will become more beloved after he retires. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that jazz. He'll go into the Reds HOF before that and him going in on the 1st ballot probably depends on who is on the ballot when he's eligible. Guys like Molina and Wainwright will be eligible if they haven't gone in already. Miggy Cabrera says he's coming back next year but after that? Of course, IIRC, he was tarnished by the PED brush. Ichiro should be up for election within the next couple of years. Buster Posey should be up in a year or two. And that's not to mention the holdovers. He's not the kind of guy like Jeter who was a no-brainer for the 1st ballot.
