Trent: Steer told he's "headed to the big leagues"

I am not sure how to parse this, it could be a misleading tweet. Thought I would post it though.

Sources: Spencer Steer was told Wednesday that he’s headed to the big leagues. Steer, acquired in the Tyler Mahle trade from the Twins, has 27 hits and 3 homers & 7 doubles in 23 games since joining AAA Louisville.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

IMO, they should play him in the outfield.

And, sit Senzel IMO. Bring in Aquino for defense, Lopez for contact hitting off the bench. Start Fairchild, Friedl and Fraley. I think Senzel knows his days are numbered.

Good for him, hopefully they let him get a good amount of at bats the rest of the way.

Steer at 3B, Farmer to 1B.

Book Senzel on a nice River Cruise.

I’ll guess that Steer will start off in a utility infield role. He’ll get a number of starts around the infield.

He’s only had 1 professional game in the OF, I doubt he’ll play much out there.

He may DH some as well.

The Rockies series coming up means nothing to anybody, so Steer will probably get starts in those games.

Next year, who knows, talking here about this month, September.

If they start Fairchild, Friedl, and Fraley I will call it my report card outfield. 3 F’s.

Today I briefly forgot about Steer as I was recalling the Mahle trade, thinking Encarnacion and Hajjar and whomever else they got was a pretty solid return.

Hard to say if CES or Steer will be the best player in the deal, but man that was a sneaky good trade by Krall and co.

    Steer bolts for the majors.

    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

I say park him at third every game and let him hit.

Don’t move him around now. Worry about his 2023 position in ST.

I doubt the Reds will give up yet on Senzel. His arbitration figure is not likely that high. He has options. IMO, his CF days are numbered, however. Almora is better and Siani is knocking on the door.

The Bats should have a powerhouse team next year. Move Senzel back to the infield and give him a year to regain his form in AAA.

I'd much rather he attempt to do that in another organization.

I'm disappointed Steer didn't get any hits yesterday.

My guess is Senzel stays but moves around the field as super utility. The Reds lack players who can handle IF and OF. That kind of utility player is valuable. I hope Reds have a program for Senzel this off-season to try and get his power hitting back. I’m not giving up on it, though he’s running out of time.

I don’t see him at AAA. Arbitration players don’t generally spend a year regaining form at AAA.

He has been so disappointing that MLB.com is hiding his big league stats out of pity:

I am excited to see him. He might not be a star, but I think he could be a very valuable, everyday piece to us being a winner again.

Hope he will have plenty of family and friends in the stands.
