Castillo was solid in his first start. His catcher was working well the first two innings and the only run was the pitch after a ball was called on a definite strike 3 but catcher caught it horribly and it looked like a ball. Then with 95 pitches and 1 run after 6 it seemed like an obvious pull just watching him…Service brought him back out for the the 7th snd gave up 2 fat pitches for 2 more runs.

    6 2/3, 3 ER, 8 K, 5 H, 3 BB 109 pitches

No Stanton or Judge….he looked good but not great. Good first outing though.he should get the W

Did Barrero simply fill a open roster spot? No mention of anyone being sent down.

M's got to Cole for six in the first. Geno took him deep. Second straight first inning homer for Suarez. Winker went yard in the seventh. Cole was booed in the Bronx. I guess Yankee fans are still a little salty over not acquiring Castillo. Good.

EDIT: I'm thinking of the movie The Woman in Red.

David Bell said Jose Barrero is going to play “quite a bit of shortstop going forward.” Kyle Farmer will likely get the bulk of his time at third.

I really want to see Barrero do well here! When was the last time the Reds had a true full-blown teardown? My memories of the 90's and leading up to the 2012 season, and even after that one LOL are pretty fuzzy. Just imagine for next year:

    SP Overton
    SP Ashcraft
    SP Greene
    SP Lodolo

I wouldn't be surprised if the Reds sign Billy Hamilton to a minor league deal with a spring training invite this off season.

The Reds are 39-39 since beginning the season 3-22.

In that span, Cincinnati batters posted an MLB-best 26.2% line drive percentage.

Hitting coach Alan Zinter's mantra this year has been "Do Damage on the Line."

With at least two more reliable bullpen arms coming into 2022, Reds could've had an outside shot at a wildcard right now. Blowing off the bullpen completely doomed this season.
