For me, the “cinema of my mind” footage is connected with Blink 182 and No Doubt haha

It’s really fascinating which portions of my life have heavy “music-to-memory” connections. The early 70’s, late 70’s, and early 90’s are all times in my life heavily connected to music. I don’t really know why either.

Yeah. I don’t think 70s-early 80s rock is immune to cringe but all my core music sense memory is attached to Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats, Green Day, New Found Glory, Blink 182, and Sugar Ray.

Yep, lots of Reel Big Fish here as well. There were always like 5 Blink songs on every mix tape I would make, though, and since I was the only one in my group of friends that had a CD burner for first couple years of HS my mix tapes were like it no matter what car we were in.

Trying to imagine a 16 year old reading the above paragraph I just typed out

Edit: just ran a couple miles and have basically had “New” by No Doubt playing on repeat

    Cuban Slide. — Pretenders.

Tired of Waiting for You. —- kinks.

Funny thing is that all these songs are hardly played so that makes you Not want to change it even more.

That song is a time machine unlike any other for me. I can see, hear, feel, how everything was in the early 70’s when I hear it. It’s a great song, though not necessarily one of my all time favorites. But it has that eerie quality of its time and place like few other songs.
Great uncredited trumpet solo in the middle by Marvin Stamm.

    Seether - Veruca Salt

I won't change the station, I'll crank it up and sing along, even if a niece or nephew is in the car yelling to turn it down.

True story, and you may be aware of this, Walter Egan once appeared on the Scrabble TV game show as a contestant. He sang a few bars of his track to Chuck Woolery (sp?) and the crowd to identify himself.

A little trivia --- Woolery, the Ashland, KY native , was part of a duo called Avante Guard, who had a top 40 hit in, I believe, 1968 called "Naturally Stoned."

These came to me today additionally:

T.S Monk- Bon Bon Vie. any funk lovers might know that one. Comes of The Groove every once in a while
    Jethro Tull- Aqualung
Henry Rollins- Liar. I have not actually heard that song on the radio but I find it absolutely hysterical. Plus there's a lot of truth to it as well
