What happened with Votto's AB? Gameday says 99 mph ground out 3b to 2b to 1b. Was there a deflection?

To be fair, he's Canadian, so he should be measured using the metric system.

Burnes pitched Barraro exactly how Welsh said he should, nothing but sliders down and away, and he K’d on three pitches.

He's not going to homer twice every game, probably just once on most days.

Gonna be tough for me to be bullish on Ashcraft until such time as he learns how to miss bats. With his pitch arsenal, he should easily have more than 49 k’s jn 76 IP.

I've never saw someone throw as hard as Ashcraft give up so much contact and strike out so few.

After showing what he can do with a couple of fastballs yesterday, he had to go into this game knowing the slider diet was only going become more acute (or at least he should have).

I can give the guy a break for the execution, it was Corbin Burns after all, but the approach is hard to get past.

I believe I would pitch him exactly the same way everyone pitches Aquino until he proves he can hit pitches other than fastballs and hangers.

I think with Aquino's defense I can live with him 1 more year as long as he isn't starting every day.

Reds being no hit after three innings, but Burnes at 63 pitches already.

Which begs the question, in my mind, of where is the coaching? I'd tell a guy like him that I don't care if he K's 4 times today looking. I don't care if you are late on fastballs because of it but we are going to work on situational awareness and pitch recognition.

"Trust me, this first pitch will be a slider....don't swing at it. If they get you on a fastball it's my fault, not yours"..type of thing.
