Dennis will always be an A's player to me

I saw where Eckersley is retiring from baseball / booth after this season. As a selfish fan he'll always be remembered by me as the A's closer. I loved his mustache, the green look great on him. Just the way he carried himself on the mound.
"He reminds me of me when I was that age -- the way he plays the game, I mean," Pete Rose talking about Chris Sabo

That was a good time for baseball in the Bay Area, the Giants reappeared, the A's as well. Lot's of great stuff, two great announcers (Bill King and Hank Greenwald) Eck was always seen as an East Coast guy, as much as Will Clark was southern. I always think of him as Indian first and foremost, after all he actually pitched a lot then

    Joe Oliver agrees.

    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

Yeah, the bay area would've been living in euphoria if not for that pesky little earthquake.

Bay area dominated, California had 5 of 6 World Series team those 3 years. Thankfully a little team from Ohio crashed their party.

Eck is one of the very few MLB pitchers who was a long term success as a starter and a reliever.

However, he likely will be best known for blowing 2 high profile World Series games, the big one being the Gibson HR in 88.

Dennis Eckersley was a great pitcher.
He was John Smoltz before John Smoltz.
    And they both were great.
    sorry we're boring
