Hunter Strickland now on the mound for Cincinnati
I think the moves from a week ago, along with the loss of Stephenson, are starting to mentally take its toll on the rest of the team. This group has played hard for most of the season. After the incredibly bad start , they recovered to play .500 ball for about half of a season. Looks like they are mentally spent. I hope not but I'm afraid Keefe's prediction from a few weeks ago could prove to be prophetic. These last two months may be brutal.

There is such a discrepancy between the haves and have nots in MLB this year. I think they feel totally overmatched when they're playing the Dodgers or the Mets, especially with "these" starting pitchers. I do think they should aggressively bring up minor leaguers but that's probably not practical 'till Sept
MLB Network even bailled out on this game.

Naquin now at .263 .316 .502 .818. Last year he finished .270 .333 .477 .810.
I always liked him, and they absolutely need LHHs with Votto and Moose falling off the cliff.
I would have tried to resign him --- and extend Drury --- but I guess neither of those things were ever going to happen.

Everything is perfect, but there is a lot of room for improvement. --- Shunryu Suzuki-roshi
This one is finally over. Mets sweep the Reds. I am afraid many more sweeps are in store for this season.

Hunter Strickland, who is out of the closer's role, struck out Francisco Lindor and Daniel Vogelbach in the eighth inning of a 10-2 game. Pete Alonso had a 110-mph exit velocity on a groundout.
Strickland's velocity was down about 2.5 mph.
The only surprise to me in this series is that this was the only truly lopsided game, I thought they all had blowout potential.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
