    "Lose For Crews"

Ok, so this team is brutally bad after all the trades (they were before)

So, I would just like to post this article about the top prospects in the 2023 class. Personally, I would like Dylan Crews. Kind of player that can turn your franchise around in a hurry. Paired with EDLC and Marte it would be quite interesting to follow the next 6-7 years.

    https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/m...op-candidates/

I know there is a lottery, but the 3 worst teams have, I believe, a 16.50% chance at the first pick overall.

In short: come on Reds! Let's LOSE FOR CREWS!

Mets are pretty good, they just just won 14 out of 16 games, are 32 games above .500 and poised to blow it and bum their fan base out in the post season against the Cardinals or something

I was just thinking about this the other day... I know we won 5 out of the last 7 series or whatever but at this point I rather lose for a higher draft pick.

Our young arms this season are slowing down so not too concerned about development.

I don’t like tanking. The more games you lose, the farther it is to come back. And the longer it takes. Losing is a bad habit that I’d rather not start on purpose.

Lots of positional talent in the pipeline right now. Obviously, take BPA, but it would be nice to find a fast moving arm similar to Lodolo at the top of next year’s draft.

I’m partial to Max Clark. He is a stud CF, hitter and hits 97 off the bump.

Yep, that's a losers mentality. Going to hard enough as it is to have a winning mindset.

It doesn't pay to tank for a draft pick in MLB, particularly now that there's a lottery. Rarely is there a #1 who's heads and tails above everyone else ala Jr or Arod

Well, none of us here have any power to do anything positively or negatively with the team. I am just saying with the last 2 months of the year I would rather the team lose enough to finish in the bottom 3.

Here is a website that tracks the odds. With the Reds currently sitting at 5th worst, there is a chance they get the 10th pick. If they finish in the bottom 3 there are much better odds they will get a top 3 pick, and a much better chance they will get the number 1 pick overall. The difference between the first and 10th pick is huge. I would much rather the Reds finish with the 3rd worse record than the 5th. What is the difference? It would legit be the difference of winning 2 or 3 more games.

In 2015, this thread would have been called “Lose For Senzel”

    Tanking is for losers.

I am generally anti-tank but since it’s already happening we may as well finish the job.

    Re: "Lose For Crews"

Meh, the Reds are going to lose 90+ games no matter what. There is a difference between rooting for a tank before the year starts and in August. The season is already over.

Do you honestly think there is any kind of difference between 67-95 and 64-98? (this is where you say "yes, 3 wins har har" but for real.

    Re: "Lose For Crews"

I’m against tanking but to kinda agree with RTG - standing here today the roster is set. The roster sucks.

Now, do you want a team to win to “learn to win,” sure.

But with these guys I don’t think it matters at this point. I mean who the hell cares if Zeuch is crafty enough to get a win (editors note - he was not).

Sorry to be “thst guy,” Don’t we usually have a “draft prospects” thread on the minor league forum?

This conversation might better stay on the subject of actual prospects there instead of a talk on the philosophy of tanking.

    My $.02
