She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning
Is Take on Me the most 80s song?

All wrong answers. 70’s music = Disco

If I had to pick a Kinks song for consideration (and I adore them, so I totally want to pick one), I think I'd go with Jukebox Music. When it hits the bridge section, it's like a wailing, unspoken despair that suddenly bursts out. Ray Davies is trying to talk us off the ledge and suddenly the song goes "screw it, I'm jumping!"

I'll buy the disco argument, but that particular song lacks critical nuance. As a kid during that decade it always struck me that adults were really broken. So I'd go with Donna Summers' "Last Dance" for a disco entry. It's late and none of us can bear the horror of being alone with ourselves.

I'm curious what others' takes on this one are, but my general reaction is I found the '70s decidedly not whimsical. Like, the mime couple Shields and Yarnell were oddly popular at the time, but you secretly knew they were shooting smack and having group sex with Mummenschanz.

Abba - Dancing Queen. Or, maybe, Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight.

It was a choice between FLS and Catch me now I’m falling. With the line I’m calling all citizens from all over the world this is Captain America calling. A call out to other countries in the mid to late 70s that hey we’ve covered for you wether you liked it or not. We need help now. Or else we’re going to get Reagan elected!
I always used to say I love that Captain America song. Always a big fan of the Kinks especially Tired of waiting for You. Dedicated follower of Fashion. Celluloid Heroes. They get lost in the talk about influential bands.
