I've gotta think there wasn't a more popular high school graduation song in the 70s than that one...

Sister Golden Hair by America or Brandy(you’re a fine girl) by Looking Glass.

    Stairway is a masterpiece.

If you sit and listen with a pair of headphones- the layers are magical. I still get goosebumps.

I have memories of dancing to this song in my 4th grade classroom. When it comes to disco, Le Freak is what leaps to mind. We used to roller skate to music in gym class and Le Freak was on the playlist.

In 5th grade, I went to school in a village school in rural England. I remember the boys in the class singing the boys part in this classic:
“The guys we've had for the most part have been serviceable at this level.”

Toni Tennille sang backup on a song on Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Funny you say that, I was just thinking it’s tough to find a more ‘70s song than Captain and Tennille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together”.

I randomly heard Love Will Keep Us Together the other day shortly after hearing Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division and it made me think of the stark difference between 70s and 80s lyrics and songs

Though the lyrics for "Love Will Tear Us Apart" were written in 1979. The '70s were thick with cheeseball sentimentality. Joy Division, which came straight out of the punk movement, was reacting to that, trying to get at the dirt under everyone's collective fingernails. We were trying to gloss over a lot of stuff. It's why my picks for this category are songs where the desperation and disillusionment come screaming through.

One monster track from the decade that we haven't mentioned yet is "Freebird". That song is essentially a dude ditching a pregnant woman. "Do unto others then split" was such a '70s vibe they even made it into a t-shirt.

Tuesdays Gone by LS is another very 70s song. Great points!

We should do one of these for every decade. The 90s would be quite the debate. So many different styles of music.
