What a treat it was to have him in the booth. Very Entertaining, Insightful Analysis. At this point when his playing days are over he will have his choice of weather he continues to work in the game in some way. Either in the booth or on the field as a manager.

Yeah I posted about that as soon as he said it. Something about parroting something.

He may be a once-a-month guest in the booth or something, but I think he's unlikely to do anything with the team on a regular basis.

He's in the booth again tonight.

I am not a big fan of Joey in the booth. He seems to have a cluttered mind. He will use 1000 words to explain something. It reminds me of Tony Kubek who always approached baseball analysis as if it were akin to brain surgery. If Joey wants to be an analyst he needs to know how to briefly state his opinions and add clearer conclusions to his comments.

You have to remember, this isn't his day job. No, he isn't polished but I wouldn't expect him to be. If he were to become an analyst full time, I'm sure he would work with people that would tell him that he needs to get his point across more succinctly. When he retires, if he does commentary for the Reds he's going to have to learn how to do play by play too - at least on radio.

I wonder if he will do anything related to baseball at all. In his Starkville interview he says basketball is his favorite sport, and the podcast he is planning with his friend will not even be about sports. I agree with everyone who says a daily job covering Reds games seems highly unlikely.

Joey Votto almost had to buy a Cincinnati Reds fan a truck

Reds first baseman Joey Votto said he was tired of no one hitting the Toyota Tundra with a home run for a fan to win the truck at Great American Ball Park. So he decided to make things interesting.

Votto, a guest in the Bally Sports Ohio broadcast booth with John Sadak and Chris Welsh said "Let's do something this inning," Votto said. "So if anybody homers on the right side of center field, I'll buy the truck for the fan. Yeah, why not? … Someone's gotta win a truck! I'm sick of this!"
