Back to the 80's ... The "Most '80s" Songs

My two favorite decades for music were the '70's and '80's. Some amazing times ... some amazing music.

I never saw this band live but their live shows looked like a real blast. Fee Waybill was such a terrific frontman. Great live version!

When I hear a violin and I think '80's ... It's Dexy's Midnight Runners and that catchy little tune that we all sang along to (but never would admit it)

Who hasn't listened to this song and watched this video a few hundred times? I had a huge crush on the cute girl in this video.

My vote. The genre, popularity, creative use of a new-ish medium (music video), and the fact that it was covered handsomely by Reel Big Fish.

I was a science guy so Mr Dolby struck a chord with me. I tried to blind a few '80's ladies with my science knowledge. I struck out more that Aristedes Aquino.

Can't talk '80's without a mention of George O'Dowd and his Culture Club.

It’s either “Purple Rain” or “Billie Jean.”

    I can’t honestly decide.

For the record, I HATE this song, always have. But it totally screams ‘80’s

I have thus far successfully avoided nominating "Everybody have fun tonight". A person should have a higher view of eighties music than I do to make this nomination.

So, some songs I do like that are still very eighties:
