Wow! That was fast. I had just read that she was under medical supervision. She has been Queen of England my entire life. It's going to be different seeing Charles in that role now. My wife and I would always watch the Queens Christmas message every year and enjoyed it. She seemed to be always positive with it. RIP Queen Elizabeth.

A life well-lived and as well-respected as a monarch can be. She was The Queen for almost all of my life. I was not quite 1 when she ascended to the throne.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning

William Manchester says that for our parents' generation 4 events stand apart :Pearl Harbor, the death of FDR, the election of 1948 and the JFK assassination. For me as a boomer I guess it would be the three assassinations and the night they announced that the Vietnam war was over. But the queen's death is a biggie.

It is a very sad day for me as a dual national British American (or Trinational depending on your view of Welsh independence). The Windsors have always felt like part of the extended relatives I have over there. Her addresses have been must viewing for me the past few years. Her COVID address in the height of lockdown was just wonderful:

During her 70 year reign as Queen, there were 16 different Prime Ministers. When Queen Elizabeth first came to the throne, the Prime Minister was Winston Churchill, born in 1874. The 16th Prime Minister was Liz Truss, born more than a century later, in 1975. I think that is amazing.
She lived a full and good life. I'm not a huge fan of "The Royals," but I respected her. If there had to be a monarch, Britain was fortunate to have had her.

Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. -- Carl Sagan (Pale Blue Dot)
