Joey on baseball is like Pedro on pitching. If you care about the sport at all, shut up and listen.

In other news, Joey is in the booth again tonight.

I found this quote on the internet and it's from Joey's appearance on the podcost:

“Does the shift matter? No, it doesn’t matter at all. Because to me, it’s my responsibility to counter it because all my competition, my peers, the people I’m competing against for contracts or future jobs. […] It made me a better hitter, to be honest with you,” Votto added.

I love what he said about the shift taking away exciting plays. And his remarks about whether it's needed are pure Joey; deeply thoughtful to the core.

I haven't listened to it, but I'm hoping he didn't praise Pujols. Albert lied about his age, and he used steroids. I don't like people who cheat in sports.
"He reminds me of me when I was that age -- the way he plays the game, I mean," Pete Rose talking about Chris Sabo

    And you know this how?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

True. Unfortunately, a Joey Votto is a rare gem in a field of glass.

The other great hitters didn't need the shift to be better hitters. The traditional way of fielding did far more than enough in the way of showing who the better hitters were.

This is nonsense. Votto would have put up bonkers career number had the shift ban happened 10 years ago. He became a better hitter in his own worldview because Joey enjoys challenges and it was a major challenge that has eaten many hitters (especially LHHs) alive.

I'm not a Pujols fan, but he has 18 HR's this year in 262 AB's at age 42 and is tested regularly. I have zero problems with his career, and he's never to my knowledge failed a test, had supplements shipped or ruined a delivery driver's career. He also doesn't blow off reporters that ask about him "dating" 15 year olds, because he didn't "date" 15 year olds.

You don't know either one. You ought not state it as facts if you can't prove it
