    Reds twitter has Cruz as the starting pitcher.
    ...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

    Fernando Cruz gets the start as the Reds play a bullpen game.

    He pitched 1 2/3 innings in his game on Tuesday as the opener.

    The Reds rotation changed when Justin Dunn went on the IL.

    Is Greene pitching one of the games tomorrow?

    Is the Barrero experiment now done? Who is next man up? Elly or Matt?

    When the Reds play actual contenders, Bell seems to go more with his veteran guys.

    My guess is Barrero will be back playing short daily before the end of the year.

    It ought to be. I'm not ready to write off completely but he needs to start the year next year in AAA and prove he can hit again.
    School's out. What did you expect?

    Fernando Cruz will be the opener again tonight. Raynel Espinal was called up after Justin Dunn went on the IL and could pitch multiple innings like he did in the Reds’ doubleheader earlier this week.

    That may be but right now with all the injuries to the pitching staff and lack of depth they have no choice

    Joel Luckhaupt
    @jluckhaupt

    Fernando Cruz will start at pitcher for the Reds today just 3 days after starting at pitcher for the Reds vs Pittsburgh.

    That will be shortest stint between starts by a Reds pitcher since Ramon Ortiz started 3 days apart on 6/29 & 7/2/2005

    TECHNICALLY, Edinson Volquez was the starting pitcher just 2 days apart in April, 2011. He was the scheduled SP on 4/22/11, but St Louis shenanigans and a rain delay at the start of the game meant he never threw a pitch. He made the start 2 days later instead.

    @jluckhaupt

    Since changing his stance, Nick Senzel has 13 hard-hit balls (EV ≥ 95 MPH) out of 17 balls in play.

    No one has more in that span and of the 67 batters with 10+ balls in play in that span, only Gary Sanchez (9 of 10) has a higher hard-hit %.

    But...

    Senzel only has one Barrel since the change.

    He's hitting the ball hard right now, but not efficiently. Given that he's making a change in-season, it's not surprising.

    But since the stance change is intended to help him hit the ball harder, it's a start!
