Just what the Reds need...another pitcher who walks 5+ per 9.

Why on earth would this 100 loss team give 10M$ to a pitcher who is going to throw less than 60 innings and has a FIP near 5.

If they spend that money on a FA it'd better be a starter.

Not cheap enough for the Reds.

I'd be looking to sign guys that could possibly be flipped at the deadline. The missile might be one of those.

The last time Chapman was here, they traded him for Rookie Davis. The Reds do not value Aroldis Chapman.

I'd prefer the Reds address the bullpen by getting multiple solid pitchers instead of throwing a lot of money at one guy. You can roll into 2023 with the idea that Diaz is the closer/high leverage arm to anchor the pen.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Ok, when BCast told Jocketty to get rid of Chapman.

I just don’t think Chapman has the acumen to adjust to his lessening stuff. Maybe he can, but I wouldn’t bet however much money it would take to sign him.

I'd argue they should sign a crapload of retreads with high ceilings, hoping to hit on a couple of them. One Wil Myers slugging .500 (as he did in short PAs in 2020) at the trading deadline could net two or three solid prospects. One Aroldis Chapman, a couple of years removed from Hall of Fame level dominance who shows out for 30 games through early July could get a couple more.

If they spend wisely and get lucky, they could shore up a bunch of holes with enough Brandon Drurys to be interesting.

And it's not like they're going to be competitive any other way...

Soooooo, Chapman stays at home in Miami and misses a mandatory team workout. As a result, the Yankees have left him off the ALDS roster. Anyone still want a homecoming?

AWOLdis Chapman will not be on the ALDS roster. Chapman was supposed to be here on Friday for team workouts but did not show up.

Chapman is in Miami, Aaron Boone says. He was supposed to be here to throw live BP on Friday and just did not show up.

Chapman going AWOL for the postseason was “shocking” but not “surprising,” Brian Cashman said.

Sure. This just lowers his price and shrinks his market. Open arms over here.

Chapman is clearly a psychopath, however, I would absolutely take him on a 1 year deal, hope he goes off, trade him at the deadline.

    This.

That he ghosted the Yankees will absolutely lower his asking price in free agency. I'm guessing he might get a couple million at this point. His upside is worth that gamble.

Hope he does well-- deal him early for a prospect or two.
