    All else being equal, give me the guy with the best bat. I'm known to defend the other aspects of WAR, but even I put the most weight on the batting stats. And on that front, it's Goldschmidt pretty easily.
    Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    High school students know how to evade drug tests. Never testing positive tells us very little.
