This is like one of those games in 2020 where they had cardboard cutouts in the audience instead of real people.

Reds 23 pitches in the first, but have the lead because one of the Pirates 15 was wild to add 90' to the India double and the Farmer SF.

Last year Chase Anderson threw 852 pitches and for the first time in his career, at age 33, figured out how to get hitters to not make direct contact with the bat. He was in the top-2% of MLB in having the best average exit velocity at an average of 85.0. Prior to that, every season was 87.2 or above, while three different seasons finishing in the bottom 1% of MLB in giving up the maximum velocity on a single pitch.

This season, at age 34, through 364 pitches, he's even better, with an average exit velocity of 83.7. He may not be young enough to have great stuff, but he's smart enough now to not serve up beefy pitches down the middle of the plate. He's had to have figured out his off-speed pitching. Batters are struggling to identify the speed of the pitch.

He's walking more batters this season, but that comes with trying to not ever serve a pitch in the middle of the box.

The Double was crushed, but he came back with a strikeout. That's good pitching.

Kudos for delivering on the SF when the opportunity presented itself.
