Solano is an easy pass. Reds will have Steer, Barrero and likely Farmer for left side of the infield; Alejo Lopez for depth. Later on guys like McLain, Elly will need at bats.

If they’re gonna spend any money it should be on a guy who can play RF, and invest the rest in pitching. It feels like they have the infield covered for a while.

I’d bring him back. They need some semblance of a major league team. I realize a lot of young guys will play but they have the potential to fall flat on their faces. They’ll need someone to play the games and not totally embarrass the team. Although that doesn’t seem to have stopped them this year.

Where else is he going to go?

Anytime you can bring back a 35-year-old who OPSs around .725 to a 100-loss team, you gotta do it, right?
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Why he's 35? What difference is he going to make on a team that lost 100 games this year. He's a platoon/utility guy on a contender maybe. If you're dumpster diving, then try to find the next Solano not over pay for previous results.

    Exactly

Couldn't you see the Reds doing this though in an effort to not be too cheap while not addressing more expensive needs?

It will probably be too expensive for this front office.

If you give Solano a payraise and he comes in at 36 years old and suddenly Father Time turns him into Tucker Barnhart with the bat then you've wasted that money on a guy who isn't as likely to repeat that performance as finding the next Brandon Drury to flip for some value at the deadline or Kyle Farmer who can serve as a valuable piece for a few years. Solano accomplishes neither.
