Not so much. I guess India's "not standing" after all

But since about 1995, it’s also a reminder that the Reds are a second rate club. They seem to approach being consistently good, but then drop back into a multi-year losing trench. Most of the time they seem to shoot themselves in the foot. Or a pandemic hits.

But here’s to looking forward to 2023. Maybe they’ll dhow some progress. My rational side says naaaaahhh, but my fan side gee maybe, you never know.
They'll show progress in 2023. There's nowhere to go but up

Interesting fact about those 1969 Expos-- none of the three rookies had an ERA+ over 100 (indicated a league average starter). I'm not sure the last team to do that, if any.

The '68 Mets were really close-- Nolan Ryan had a 98 ERA+ his rookie season. Jerry Koosman and Jim McAndrew were both exceptional.

EDIT TO ADD: Doing the legwork, it looks like the 1944 Cincinnati Reds were the last team with three rookie starters to pitch 100 innings or more and enjoy an ERA+ of 100 or more.

27-year-old (and future MVP winner) Jim Konstanty, 32-year-old Tommy de la Cruz, and 26-year-old Arnold Carter were the last trio to do it.

Interestingly, it was de la Cruz's sole season in the big leagues and one of only two for Carter.

3 for the Cubs should do it.

Looks like the last time Reds have scored more than 4 was 2 weeks ago against the Red Sox.

In the only 100+ loss season in Reds' history(up to this point) , the terrific Mario Soto was the losing pitcher in loss # 100. Mario ended the season with a sub 2.8 ERA and had 14 wins. Not bad for a team that had only 61 wins on the season.

Mario probably would have won 22 games that season had the team not been so anemic offensively.

Watching this, for no other reason than it’s the last game of a miserable season, and I want to be certain it actually ends.
