Great, now Winker gets to hit against us for 19(?) games a year, with the boost he gets in the GAB.

I agree on the payroll part, not so much on the existing talent...

Hayes would have been the best player (by fWAR) on the Reds this season, Suwinski a better WAR than any current Red. Keller and Brubaker were better than any current Reds starter, Bednar the best reliever. They actually added players of consequence this offseason. Of course injuries to India and Stephenson skew those #s but I don't think the gap is all that great right now

And when Votto and Moose roll off the team, the payroll gap will close too.

With Soto estimate around 20 million that means the Padres will pay $150 million this year for: Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis, Juan Soto, Xander Bogaerts, Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Jon Musgrove.

Meanwhile the Reds have 0 LTCs on the books after next year, only team control and arb deals. Baseball is weird.

All contracts are going to seem ridiculous because teams have absurd amounts of money to throw around. Plus, they're basically using contract length like deferred payments.
