How an Israeli kibbutznik became a Cincinnati Reds pitching coach

Bill James, the influential baseball writer, historian and statistician, once described the great Yankee first baseman Don Mattingly in only six words: “One-hundred percent ballplayer, zero percent bull----.”

The same can be said of Alon Leichman, the first athlete born in Israel to make it to the major leagues, having just been named assistant pitching coach of the Cincinnati Reds.

Sure is. A kibbutznik is a member of a kibbutz.

Reds writers are already scraping the bottom of the barrel as to what to write about.

That's a lot of letters for the beat writers to type out when he inevitably gets fired mid season.
