    Reds post-season transactions 2022-23

Might as well have a separate thread to track and discuss the actual Reds deals.

Let’s start with yesterday, November 6. Anderson, Romine, Solano, Strickland, Wilson became free agents.

Reds 40 man roster at 40, including 60-day IL players.

Mets hired away Reds assistant pitching coach Eric Jagers to be their director of pitching development. Seems like he was kind of the last Driveline guy. RIP that era, I guess.

    @Reds

The #Reds have declined the 2023 mutual option on LHP Mike Minor, making him a free agent.

Additionally, RHP Chase Anderson, RHP Hunter Strickland, LHP Justin Wilson, C Austin Romine and IF Donovan Solano yesterday became free agents.

Assistant pitching coach Eric Jagers leaves Reds for Mets

The Reds dismissed five coaches at the end of their 100-loss season, and had a sixth coach leave Tuesday.

Eric Jagers, the club’s assistant pitching coach for the last two seasons, was hired by the New York Mets as their director of pitching development.

Jagers, 27, was one of the youngest coaches on a big-league staff and was initially hired by the Reds before the 2020 season as their minor league assistant pitching coordinator under Kyle Boddy.

Jagers, who was known for his work in pitch design at the Driveline training facility near Seattle, was promoted to the Reds’ big-league staff ahead of the 2021 season after Caleb Cotham was hired as the Philadelphia Phillies’ pitching coach.

The coaches who were fired or did not have their contracts renewed at the end of the season included hitting coach Alan Zinter, first-base/infield coach Delino DeShields, bullpen coach Lee Tunnell, assistant coach Rolando Valles and advance scouting coach Cristian Pérez.

Derek Johnson, who oversees the minor leagues as the director of pitching, is currently the lone pitching coach on the Reds’ Major League coaching staff.

This is one of those things that is lost when talking about using deep pockets, it's not just spent on players.

Eric Jagers is really smart and very good at communicating with players. This is a great hire by the Mets.

The Mets have hired Eric Jagers to be their director of pitching development.

Jagers was the Reds' assistant pitching coach for the last two years and has also worked at Driveline since 2018.

    No thanks

TL;DR version: did Jagers leave for more $ or a better situation?

Yep! Doing well. I was around here and there, but not in game threads. Had some of my interest diverted to watching some of those Castillo gems against the Yankees, as well as the Judge race to 61. It was the first year I didn't get to a single game after Phil's comments, which pained me, but here's to better times

    Hope you are well!
