    I forgive Puig.

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

its ironic that players are persecuted for betting on sports, yet professional sports are promoting and in bed with online betting companies. Bally even has a sponsor that has a casino.

... placed an additional 899 bets. That's a good amount.

I mean it seems like it, but not really. I went to the Pacers game recently with a group of friends, and two of the guys had probably 20 bets each going for that game. Probably had 6 separate bets for who made the first shot, 5 single game parlays, bet the winner and then doubled down at half time, plus who knows whatever else.

I didn't read the story, but if that's over the course of a year, that's like 2-3 bets a night. That's pretty easy to do, if you enjoy doing it.
    WHEN DOES IT STOP!?!?

Those additional 899 bets were over 6 weeks or so, so that's 20+ a day

I get why people point this out but it’s an active player playing in the game being betted on

There's no indication he bet on baseball, according to the article it was tennis, football, and basketball.

Puig “placed 899 additional bets on tennis, football and basketball games through the websites".

He was prosecuted for lying to federal agents, not for the bets themselves.

Not a good idea. The Feds don’t cotton to that. Often times, the cover up is worse than the crime itself.

The lines do start to blur. “The Cincinnati Reds are the latest team to jump on the sports-betting bandwagon after announcing plans to add a new BetMGM Great American Ball Park sportsbook for the 2023 season.”

Yeah, I'll believe that when me **** turns blue and smells of rainbow sherbert.

Puig is a known absolute scumbag, wouldn't put that past him.

It’s pretty nauseating watching any sports broadcast these days and being blasted with an endless amount of ads for gambling services every commercial break, if not actually in-game as well.

I wouldn't put it past him either, but the Feds have him cold either way.
