I'm probably one of the bigger Kyle Farmer fans on this board, but I wouldn't go to arb with him when the projection is almost $6 Million. Don't really blame the reds here.

This Farmer trade should surprise nobody.
The $5.9 million arb estimate made it pretty likely.

I thought they'd work out a cheaper deal maybe over a couple of years. Guess Farmer wasn't willing to trade off annual value for something longer term.Originally Posted by Kc61

Farmer is second year arbitration-eligible, and is due to make $5.9MM according to MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz’ predictions.
It’s the second major trade of the day for Minnesota, after the team sent third-baseman Gio Urshela to the Angels.
Someone find Barry and make sure he’s ok.
Wonder if this is a three-way deal and the Reds end up with the kid the Twins got for Urshela. Twins save a little money by subbing Farmer for Urshela and the Reds get the prospect.

He's on the 40 man roster in MIN. So he'll be on the Reds 40. Struggled in jump to AA, but at least he doesn't walk 5 per 9 innings.

Purely a salary saver, but I can’t blame them for not wanting to spend $6M on Farmer for a team that will win 68 games.

Fangraphs says Legumina has three minor league options remaining.
Since he’s on the forty, there may be another shoe to drop. Reds will want to open up forty-man roster spot(s) for Rule 5 draft.
