These posts hating on Newman are basically the same posts we had last year at this time hating on Farmer. Only difference is the name. Now trading Farmer for a cheaper version is the doom of the franchise. The ironic part is that it’s been doomed well before either of these guys ever showed up.

Farmer is a legitimate threat against LHP, while Newman is merely adequate. That’s their primary difference…

So with Barrero, India and Steer likely getting the PT and all being RH bats, when was Farmer going to play? They exchanged that for better up the middle defense which will be more important in a post shift world. 100 losses is still 100 losses whether it’s Farmer or Newman as the UI.

Two bad he wasn't used that way.

He was used as a regular SS with little range which will get exposed even more once the shift disappears with poor numbers vs. RH pitching. And was set to make $6M.

Farmer needed to go as soon as he started making money.

Seems the Reds have some circular logic going.
