    Baseball is weird

Keep that in mind every time you think you have it figured out

    Code:
    1999
    Reds .272/.341/.451/.792
    NL	.268/.342/.429/.771

    2022
    Reds .235/.304/.372/.676
    NL	.243/.314/.398/.712

the 99 Reds were one of my fav seasons teams.. If they could have won one more game in Milwaukee, i feel they would have beat the Braves that year and gone to the World Series.. Sucks!

Reds needed Fire In The Hole Tomko to not suck in 1999.

But with each successive month, he shoved his head a little further up his digestive tract.

Perhaps at the margins those teams weren’t as good or bad as we respectively remember them.

But there is a world of difference between being +.021 and -.036 against league average OPS.

(Not to mention needing Reiver SanMartin and Vlad G starting your 2nd and 3rd games of the season as members of the rotation)

I’ll allow that the ‘99 club is perhaps remembered too fondly, but ‘22 was a dumpster fire.

I'm speaking more about the average the league was spitting out in each year. Both are completely whacked, one is crazy big the other crazy small. Just a completely different game

But yeah you nailed the Reds situation for both

There was something interleague play that bothered me that season and I went back and checked it out. The Reds played KC, Minn, Det, and Cleveland both home and away. The Astros played the same schedule except they played the Indians one series and White Sox another. The Indians won 97 games that year and the White Sox won 75. The Astros beat us out by one game in the division. That BS rivalry series that we got stuck with screwed the Reds out of the division. The Astros were 4-2 in their games against Clev-CHW while we were 2-4 in our 2 series with the Indians.
