One of the kindest “celebrities” I ever met and had a chance to speak to. That aw shucks demeanor wasn’t a front. That was really him. A warrior and a world champion. Thanks, Tom. God love you.

Hopefully he gets to spend eternity here. It's pretty close to heaven in my mind! RIP

One of my favorite players as a kid. Other than the perfect game I will always remember how solid his rotation slot felt and how he'd do his best to get the game wrapped up in a tidy two hours. And of course, the Wrigley Field incident. Really can't imagine anything like that happening today.
RIP and thank you Mr. Browning for so many great memories.

Wow so sad to see this today! RIP Tom. Will be missed for sure. The birth of his son during Game 2 (and his whereabouts) will forever be one of the memories of that great series.

Saw him pitch his 17th victory in his rookie year in person at Riverfront. Also missed out on a chance to see his perfect game when friends offered tickets and I turned them down because I had to work and it was going to rain anyway.

I had a great day at work, and in a beautiful way, this put a damper on my day. One of the true ones

Many great Tom Browning stories. My favorite is at the end of his career with the Reds. I think it was 1991.
He was pitching against the Giants at Candlestick. He got rocked early, was struggling through around the 3rd or 4th inning. He was at the plate, bunting a runner over. The pitch hit his bat, then went straight back, hitting him square in the lip.
Blood was everywhere, he was down on the ground for what seemed like forever. I thought for sure he was out of the game. But Browning had the team doctor sew up his lip right at home plate, and stayed in the game a few more innings. It was like something out of an old paperback baseball book.

Tom Browning Passes Away
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/...sses-away.htmlFormer major league pitcher Tom Browning has passed away, per an announcement from the Sheriff’s Office in Boone County, Kentucky. Browning was 62 years old.
The left-handed pitcher was drafted by the Reds in 1982 and wound up spending the vast majority of his career with that organization. He made his major league debut in 1984 and spent parts of 11 seasons with the club, sticking with Cincy through the 1994 campaign.
He was a mainstay of the rotation from 1985 through 1991. In each of those seven seasons, he made at least 31 starts and tossed at least 183 innings. In six out of the seven, he made at least 35 starts and logged at least 227 frames. His ERA was 4.18 or lower in all but one of those seven seasons.
Included in that stretch were a few notable highlights. Browning threw a perfect game against the Dodgers in 1988, just the 12th perfect game in history at that time, though the list has since grown to 23. Two years later, he made three postseason starts for the Reds, posting a 3.71 ERA and helping them win the 1990 World Series. He was selected to the All-Star team in the subsequent season as well.
He would appear in four more seasons but injuries limited him to just only about 250 combined innings over that stretch, which included two appearances for the Royals in 1995. Those would be his only MLB games not as a member of the Cincinnati Reds.
He finished his career with 1,921 innings pitched over 302 MLB games. He has a 123-90 win-loss record, 31 complete games, 12 shutouts and exactly 1,000 strikeouts. He was an All-Star, won a World Series and is one of only 23 players in history to pitch a perfect game. MLBTR sends our condolences to his family, friends, loved ones, former teammates and all those mourning him today

I was too young to remember Browning pitching, but if the quality of a person can be summed up with the sentiments of those who remember them, we definitely lost a great one.
Seemed to love being a ballplayer and a member of the Reds.
RIP, Mr. Perfect.

I loved his blue collar approach to the game. So sad.
I would guess him and Nuxy are having a brew right now.
