Chargers hired for Oregon Quarterback Kellen Moore, OC for the Cowboys the last few years, to be O. C. for the Chargers. That's a huge improvement over what they had last season and should be enough to put pressure on the Chiefs so that the Chiefs don't get to host another Championship Game.

Moore played at Boise State. He did sort of own Oregon while playing for the Broncos, though.

Texans hire Demeco Ryans to a 6 year Head Coach deal.
It was reported a few weeks ago that the G. M. has no power over the next Head Coach in Denver and that the new Head Coach will report directly to the Owners. So, this sort of makes Sean Payton a de facto G. M., while the current G. M. becomes more of a President of Operations. Payton all along was seeking a G.M.-type control situation, so his meetings with the Owners, where it was reported that he was backing out because of a disagreement with one of them after the first meeting (it wasn't spanishrice, also reported), so that conflict must have been resolved among the Ownership Group.

Although the Broncos’ head coaching search had experienced some turbulence, the franchise may well be on the verge of sticking the landing. The Broncos and Saints are finalizing terms on a trade for Sean Payton‘s rights, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports (on Twitter). Payton is expected to become the Broncos’ next head coach. This will be the former Saints leader’s second opportunity as an NFL HC. While Payton had been connected to staying at FOX for another year and waiting for the 2024 hiring period, the Broncos look to have changed his mind.
This blockbuster transaction will lead to the Saints receiving compensation for their 16-year head coach, who stepped down after the 2021 season. The teams have finalized the compensation, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports (via Twitter). The Broncos gave the Saints a choice of two trade packages, Schefter adds. The Saints could have received the Broncos’ 2024 first-round pick and a 2023 fourth or a package that sends Denver’s 2023 first-rounder and 2024 second to New Orleans. The latter deal, which the Saints preferred, will see Denver acquire New Orleans’ 2024 third-round pick (Twitter link). As far as compensation goes, this is a significant haul. The Broncos join the Jets, Patriots and Buccaneers in agreeing to send first-round picks for coaches over the past 30 years. Payton interviewed with four of the five HC-needy teams this year but made the Broncos his first meeting. The Broncos will have a depleted 2023 draft arsenal, thanks to the deals for Payton and Russell Wilson. But Payton will be by far the franchise’s highest-profile HC since Mike Shanahan.
This process included twists and turns, including another Tuesday. Previously linked to having DeMeco Ryans as a frontrunner, the Broncos circled back to him again hours ago. The Broncos attempted to hire Ryans, who just accepted the Texans’ HC offer, earlier today, Rapoport adds (via Twitter). When Ryans declined, the Broncos agreed to part with significant draft capital for Payton. This news comes just after CEO Greg Penner flew to Ann Arbor to meet with Jim Harbaugh, who had turned the Broncos down to stay at Michigan. Evidently not big on taking “no” for an answer, the Broncos ended up landing the coach who was long believed to be the favorite here. This certainly proved quite the journey.

The Texans interviewed DeMeco Ryans for a second time Tuesday, and the team is not letting the hot HC candidate leave town without a deal. Ryans will become the next Texans head coach, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets. The parties finalized a six-year contract to bring Ryans, a Texans linebacker from 2006-11, back to Houston. This will wrap a six-year Ryans tenure in San Francisco, and Houston — after back-to-back one-and-done coaching tenures — will land one of this year’s top candidates.
Long expected to land one of this year’s HC jobs, Ryans will head back to Houston after overseeing a dominant San Francisco defense. The 49ers ranked first in total defense, scoring defense and defensive DVOA this season. While Brock Purdy‘s elbow injury effectively ended San Francisco’s Super Bowl hopes early in the NFC championship game, the 49ers’ loss opened the door for the Texans to make an official hire this week. Ryans, 38, jumped to a DC role just three years after being promoted from the quality control level; he has spent his entire career on Kyle Shanahan‘s staff. Shanahan was with the Texans during part of Ryans’ time as a Houston defender and has long stumped for the well-regarded leader. The 49ers’ defensive performance this year left little doubt Ryans would soon become a head coach, and both the Broncos and Texans aggressively pursued him. Houston won out, and Ryans profiles as a vastly different HC compared to the franchise’s previous two.
All five head coach-needy teams this year reached out to Ryans. Four of those scheduled interviews, but Ryans ended up passing on Cardinals and Colts meetings — which would have come hours before the 49ers’ divisional playoff game against the Cowboys — to lead to a two-team race. Despite days of Texans-centric developments, Ryans still received aggressive interest from the Broncos. Denver circled back to Ryans on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports (on Twitter). When Ryans turned the Broncos down, the AFC West team pivoted to Sean Payton. While the former Saints HC had long been the Broncos’ preference, he cost first- and second-round picks. And Ryans clearly impressed the Broncos, to the point they were prepared to abandon their pursuit of an experienced head coach.
This could be a seminal hire for the Texans, who completed odd coaching searches in 2021 and ’22. GM Nick Caserio interviewed Josh McCown in both years, but potential backlash about hiring a head coach with no experience is believed to have affected a potential hire. The Texans hired David Culley in 2021, despite no other teams being in on the then-Ravens wide receivers coach, and fired him after a 4-13 season. Last year’s search did not include Lovie Smith until the end, but after McCown and Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon were in the mix, Caserio instead promoted Smith. The former Houston DC oversaw a 3-13-1 season that led to his firing. The hiring of back-to-back 60-somethings — for a team amid a long rebuild — created the perception of dysfunction. Considering the team went through a chaotic period when Bill O’Brien held the dual HC-GM role and was at the forefront of the Deshaun Watson scandal, stability is desperately needed here. Hence, the six-year contract. The Texans included a host of younger names in their 2023 search, but Ryans stood out. It can be safely assumed Ryans will not be a one-and-done, considering the team’s recent past and the momentum the linebacker-turned-coordinator built in San Francisco.

Broncos Walmart billionaires must have paid record $$$ for Payton. Joining a team with an aging $50M qb, little draft capital in a division with Mahomes and Herbert and an absolutely loaded conference.
Good to see the cakewalk AFC West giving KC a run. Bengals will get the AFC West in 2024.
Condaleesa Rice is also part Owner and, supposedly, Payton was OK with reporting to her directly.

You already know the story that Broncos' Ownership, where Condaleesa Rice seems to have equal say about what's going on (name a scenario where she doesn't enter a room and demand equal say), stated that the next Head Coach will report directly to the Owners and not the G.M.? It's a lot further back and more difficult to find the link, probably, but the link for the story that says that Payton supposedly liked his meeting with Rice, but not with one of the other Owners...I'll get you that.

In this link, it talks about Payton, through twitter, disputing a report by the journalist Maske that Payton feared a power struggle among Bronco's Ownership and that this was making Payton less enthusiastic about the Denver job. (you'll have to find the story Maske wrote...shouldn't be hard to find)
This link then mentions the specific names of who at the Ownership level is involved in the search for a new Head Coach.
Then later in the article it mentions Payton "loves" his interactions with Rice, per a twitter feed from Maske (with a link for that).

You didn't read the post.
I said it's assumed that you know that the next Head Coach will report directly to the Owners, as it was reported widely a month ago when they began the search and that I wasn't going to find that link for you as you can look it up yourself.
What I did post, which also shows you didn't read the post, is that three names, specific names of Owners, were listed as the people who were in charge of the hiring and interviewing of the next Head Coach, Rice being one of those names, while they were being "assisted" by the G.M. (somebody has to do the paperwork and act as Secretary). So, that means that Payton will be reporting directly to Rice, and the other two Owners. That's crystal clear in my post. If you can't see that, you need to go back to school.
