Where I think starting pitchers will be to start the season.

    Reds starting pitcher depth:

My guess where each pitcher will start. I have Bonnin in AA. I would have rather have had him starting in Dayton but there wasn’t room and he was the oldest. I could see Hajjar moving to Chattanooga instead. I also have Acuna and Parks back in Daytona for the same reason. Not enough room in Dayton. I think they are ready to move up but there is no room. I love the Reds pitching depth. Especially in the lower levels

Re: Where I think starting pitchers will be to start the season.

Krall said early in the off-season that he wanted to be more conservative with prospects. I suspect that means keeping most of the pitchers a full season in each level. It might also mean that several would-be starters get moved to the bullpen earlier rather than later. For instance, Lyon Richardson has just been added to the 40-man roster and hasn't yet sniffed AA. Cincinnati may well decide that, in order to get something from that spot, they'll need to fast-track him and let him focus on two pitches rather than four. Injuries certainly play a part too-- I suspect Roa, Bonnin, and Richardson are pen-bound. They might also move quite quickly. (Bonnin gives me Scott Williamson vibes, fwiw.)

I've got several guys who, at first blush, will be moving to bullpens. Eduardo Salazar is a guy who can reach mid-90s as a starter, but he struggled last season to throw strikes. As a bullpenner, he could be a real weapon. Sam Benschoter, in the AFL, largely showed that solid bump in velocity, but struggled with small sample results-- I'm guessing he becomes a full-time reliever this year as a 25-year-old in AA. In Dayton and Daytona, Cincinnati may turn once again to a tandem starter philosophy. Lots of options. I would like to see Farr move up, but he's blocked. He, Petty, Hajjar, Rivera, and Aguiar might well be a dominant rotation in Dayton. That said, Tanner Cooper was really good last season too. I'm assuming at least one guy will be held back or kept out of action because that happens every year.

    AAA Louisville
    Brandon Williamson
    Levi Stoudt
    Carson Spiers
    Justin Dunn/ Casey Legumina
    Kevin Harget/ Ben Lively
    RP Eduardo Salazar

    AA Chattanooga
    Connor Phillips
    Andrew Abbott
    Joe Boyle
    Christian Roa
    Jake Wong
    RP Lyon Richardson
    RP Bryce Bonnin
    RP Sam Benschoter

    High A Dayton
    Thomas Farr
    Chase Petty
    Steve Hajjar
    Javi Rivera
    Julian Aguiar
    RP Tanner Cooper

    Low A Daytona
    Bryce Hubbart
    Jose Acuna
    Hunter Parks
    Jose Franco
    Reynardo Cruz
    Jacob Heatherly
    Kevin Abel
    Chris McElvain

I don’t think Franco will be playing this season due to injury, I think Tommy John. I will be surprised if Roa or Bonnin are moved to the pen this season. I could see them moving Lyon tho. I think Overton will start in Louisville. Cessa or Dunn are more likely to get the last rotation spot than him. I think they will want to keep him stretched out. I also think there is a good chance Benschoter ends up in the pen but don’t see him moved this year either. As a starter he would have more innings to work on his pitching. No need to move him yet.

Re: Where I think starting pitchers will be to start the season.

I'm intrigued by the next wave of Reds pitchers. I see 6 arms that interest me that could make their MLB debuts by 2024.

    Williamson
    Abbott
    Stoudt
    Philips
    Boyle
    Bonnie

This is a really key group to round out spots on the staff. If the Reds can get 3 or better 4 to fill out 1 starter and a couple relief roles it'd be a big boost.
