There’s a rumor that Rolen is going in, as indicated by the web addresses for the players’ pages.

I think Rolen is a Hall of Famer because of his two-way excellence. He had over 300 homers, 500 doubles, 2000 hits and a lifetime OPS of .855. That alone wouldn’t do it. But he was an 8 time GG winner considered an elite defensive third baseman.

I agree and its why I voted for him, but watching him play every day, he never struck me as a HOF player.

Rolen wasn’t in his prime with the Reds. Had a very good year in 2010 but already was 35.

Even watching him in Philly and St. Louis he never struck me as a HOF.

Rolen always struck me as a great defensive third baseman who was a strong, though not spectacular, middle of the order hitter. That’s pretty rare in my experience watching baseball. I have no problem with Rolen in the Hall, clearly deserved.

    Thrilled for Rolen.

And the writers apparently will require some flogging to come around Carlos Beltran, who really ought to be an obvious pick.

Of all the corner IF since 1969 Rolen is 6th in WAR (70), in-between Bagwell (79) and Eddie Murphy (69)

Good it’s not going to just be McGriff. No offense to Fred, but it’s ridiculous if a ceremony only goes to one player at this point.

Helton was 11 votes shy, Wagner 26...both are set to make it next year.
