    Replying to @AcunaAndrew and @jay_jaffe
He would be much less likely to get injured if he wasnt ramped up to 100% in a high adrenaline scenario for a silly made up tournament

Tom, they're *all* silly made up tournaments, even the World Series.

Players love to compete, and every single one of them will tell you that doing so while representing their country is something even more special.

These games have been really exciting. I suspect the quarters and semis will be even moreso.

Sucks about the injury to Diaz. I saw it live and had no idea what was going on.

Freak injuries aside, the WBC is clearly very good for the game, no question there. Especially as a Reds fan. Gotta take meaningful games when you can get them.

    Bummer about Diaz.

With that said, if I’m Krall I’m calling up the Mets and asking for Baty and Vientos for our Diaz

I like the WBC but I think Diaz playing for the Mets is better for the game than the WBC. His entry music thing is amazing. Best the sport has had since Enter Sandman.
What would you say.....ya do here?

I would rather the Reds ask for one of the Mets' starting pitchers.

The finals of the WBC should really be in Japan. There this thing is closer to Super Bowl level importance than meaningless.

New York Mets closer Edwin Díaz tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during the celebration after Puerto Rico’s WBC victory against the Dominican Republic. He will need surgery and is expected to miss the season.

How about not playing dog puke on the rabbit after winning a non world Series finale.

This would be a good time to talk to the Mets about Alexis Diaz. May be a chance to get Parada and a lower level pitcher. Mets are in a win now mode.

I'd want Alex Ramirez or Bret Baty, Eric Orze and Jose Butto

Baseball really has carved out that niche for itself.

It would be perfect for Reds fans. They would get prospects and then they could complain about how they don't keep any of the good players.

What happens to MLB contract if player gets injured during WBC?

    (Clayton Kershaw was uninsurable)

Most injuries sustained during the World Baseball Classic are covered by insurance, which will likely protect the Mets financially for the $19.65 million Diaz is owed this upcoming season.

Here's how the insurance process works for players competing in the World Baseball Classic...
