    You think?

I'll bet they've decided already he's here all year and Matt won't be stealing any time from anybody that's not named Jose

I get that bashing Senzel is all the rage the last few years and the majority of the criticism is justified. To me he is no longer an everyday starter but I do think he can slot into a super sub utility type role. He has value as he can play multiple positions.

I don't know. Senzel is still here. He probably still has the pictures of somebody with farm animals or he'd already be gone.

My guess is Newman, Myers and Vosler will be the ones to go and McLain, CES and EDLC will be the ones added but probably not until July or August. Vosler probably goes when Votto comes back.

He was a #1 draft pick. The Reds will give him every chance in the world plus several more to prove himself.

I’d love for him to be a serviceable player. At one time he had a ton of talent but things just haven’t gone his way. I see that this is his last chance at proving himself. Again, the Reds have already punted on this season so Senzel will get an extended look. That’s just how it will be.

Your idea of McClain getting the call is a pipe dream though…he doesn’t have a clear path to full ABs unless they trade India or send Barreo down. They are going to keep him playing full time in AAA. Which means Senzel is going to get about 100 games to stink up the joint because he can play multiple positions.

I he was given more rope than Aquino. He should have been let go at same time. Aquino actually showed more a the mlb level. Better arm power defense hittool and speed were a wash.

He's a dead end now. Already in arb. Just a couple more years of control. He either prices himself out of town or fades away. He's not a part of the eventually rebuilt roster and I doubt he gets more than a fringe prospect in trade even if he has a good season. Just seems like a waste of time. Another 28 year old who hasn't established himself as anything just like teh bullpen guys. A rebuilding team doesn't have time for those types.

    +1

I can understand the argument to cut both. I can understand the argument to keep Aquino for defense and baserunning. Keeping Senzel only makes no sense to me. He has infield versatility, but the Reds are flush with infielder in the org.

If they cut Senzel, Barrero is the RH caddy for Friedl in CF and can back-up in the IF just like Senzel. Unlike Senzel, he can back-up SS as well. Mclain becomes SS, Barrero is the up the middle back-up (who is showing signs of life on offense). It makes too much sense.

...but, I agree, Senzel is probably here through the end of the year. Kids will come up as guys start being dealt. Myers, Newman etc to make room. Probably late July

He can play second, third and center…gives Bell a guy who can give Steer a rest and Friedl.

Make McLain the SS and Barrero can play 2b, 3B, Cf and SS in that spot. Younger, more potential and more versatile if that's what you're after.

The problem with Senzel solely rests on David Bell for not batting him, THE centerfielder, first in the batting order to get him going.
