If Stephenson is DHing, Maile or Casali hit 8th in front of Newman. Vosler, then, provides a breather for Steer and/or Myers. Lots of platoons, with only five guys receiving full-time PAs-- India, Stephenson, Myers, Steer, and Newman. Barrero sent to AAA. Solak may make the squad over Vosler or Fairchild. Senzel and Votto aren't ready at the beginning of the season, but will come back fairly early in the season-- Votto for one of the backup OF, Senzel for either Friedl, Fairchild, Pinder, or Benson.

I suspect the Reds' front office really wants this to happen. If Williamson is even fairly decent, he's going to get the nod. That bolsters the bullpen and provides the talking heads with another young SP to hype. They might put Williamson in Louisville for a month or so to play control games. Overton in Louisville to begin the season.

I suspect they'll go full-on veteran staff at the beginning of the season. Gibaut, Strickland, Young, and Farmer are all cheap enough to eat their salary if they suck. Cessa becomes the most expensive guy in the pen-- he may switch spots with Weaver. But he's not going to be with the Reds for most of Spring Training. Unless he dominates for Mexico, he may come back to a relief role. Not much upside here, but everyone looks... fine.

This is almost exactly my roster. The only changes I'd make is to keep Fairchild over Pinder mainly for his ability to play CF. And I'd keep Alex Young ahead of Strickland or Cruz to give them a second lefty. I'd probably cut Strickland, but the Reds probably want to hoard as many disposable arms as they can to get through the season, so they'll probably option Cruz instead.
