If you believe Friedl will take the place of Wil Myers or take most of Nick Senzel's PAs, I've got some bad news for you...
I mean, if TJ Friedl starts hitting the ball like Kingspoint insists he can (13 triples and 25 doubles) while also stealing 30+ bases, he might. But that'd be a pretty remarkable bump in production. With those numbers, he's not only an All-Star, but likely one of the top two or three CF in the game.
His SLG has been better than advertised at the MLB level. If you believe his OBP will come around to the .360 he posted in the minors, you might have a borderline .800 OPS guy here. He’s managed to be league average as a hitter to this point without the benefit of consistent playing time. He hits lefties well. His glove is highly regarded by scouts. Maybe he’s Chris Heisey 2.0, but I think he should certainly get a legitimate chance to win a starting OF job this year.
FRaley, Friedl, Benson, Myers and Votto should man 1B, the 3 OF spots and DH against RHP most of the time IMO. They'll float through DH for rest, but I think those guys should be the starters. Nick Senzel is the unfortunate fly in the ointment who doesn't even deserve a spot on the roster let alone the line-up, but he'll probably play a lot if he's ever healthy.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

13 triples is the only one that seems like truly implausible to me.
25 doubles on its own isn’t that rare is it? And 30 SB hasn’t been in the past either. Depending on how big the effect is with the rule changes, wouldn’t seem all that impossible.

Yeah triples aside, not that crazy if you think a guy really is a breakout candidate

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Friedl's mom to the board.
As for my pick? I'll go way off the grid and into the weeds. Hector Ramos.
From 1894 to 1931 72 players 27 and older did it.
From 1932-1968 Only Lou Brock did it (1968)
Here are the 13 guys 27 and older to do it in the expansion era
Now factor in that GAB doesn't have a lot of doubles to give up and Friedle won't hit the dish as much as the fellers above.Code:Player Season Age PA José Reyes 2011 28 586 Carl Crawford 2010 28 663 Jimmy Rollins 2007 28 778 Juan Pierre 2006 28 750 José Offerman 1998 29 709 Delino DeShields 1997 28 643 Chuck Knoblauch 1996 27 701 Lance Johnson 1996 32 724 Steve Finley 1992 27 686 Tony Gwynn 1987 27 680 Mitch Webster 1986 27 645 Brett Butler 1985 28 666 Willie Wilson 1985 29 642 César Tovar 1970 29 726
