Well, that explains why I was so shocked. Because it didn't happen. These Spring Training Gamedays of ESPN and MLB leave a lot to be desired. Both of them said he made an out on the first pitch.

In reality, he had a very good at-bat. He took the first two pitches to get a 2-0 count w/ the bases loaded. He took the next pitch which was low, but Barnhart pulled it up and the ump gave him a gift strike to make it 2-1. He got in front of a fastball and pulled it 200 feet down the foul territory in LF. He then took a ball three to make the count full (Barnhart tried to pull the ball up and in about 12 inches to try to get a call but the ump would have none of that as it wasn't even close). He then hit a shot deep to RF for the last out. It didn't produce runs, but it was still a good Plate Appearance.

Joey Votto signs autographs in pouring rain at canceled Reds-Cubs game in Goodyear

The conditions were far from ideal for giving or getting a Joey Votto autograph.

But after the Cincinnati Reds' Spring Training game against the Chicago Cubs in Goodyear was canceled during the fourth inning by rain, the Reds' first baseman and former National League MVP was signing for fans in the pouring rain.
