    March Madness: Day 1

An inauspicious beginning to the tournament as the NCAA has given credentials to the Des Moines regional to former local sports talk show host and convicted felon Marty Tirrell. Here's why Tirrell went to prison.

Ah, the annual tradition of NCAA Tournament non-troversies starts early!

In any event, I like WV and Utah State early. Always a great day!

I sure don't care even a little about that. I'm here to watch games and see how my bracket does

Maryland pulled it out. There went one of my upset picks.

Furman up 1 with 2 seconds left.

Picked the wrong 4-13 upset. Ah well, my bracket's blown now. (It was blown long before the first game tipped off, TBH.)

Furman wins! I did pick them. At least I will have one upset pick right.

Furman! Love the mid-majors. Furman has had a really solid team under Richey for a few years now but could never break through their conference tourney. Glad to see them get to celebrate.

    Re: March Madness: Day 1

The MWC teams always seem appealing to me when filling out my bracket, and then they almost always stink. I figured Alford's bunch for a group of posers that didn't belong in the Tournament. But I expected better of Utah State. Guess I might be regretting my decisions to pick SD State and Boise as well!
