Yep, he's probably done with only about a month to play.

That may be the dagger. Unbelievably bad fortune with these injuries. Just crazy.

2B Jonathan India (left foot plantar fasciitis)
    Expected return: TBD
After taking batting practice at Angel Stadium on Aug. 22, India departed to continue working out at the team's complex in Goodyear, Ariz. He was slated to begin running on an anti-gravity treadmill, which would enable him to not put pressure on his left foot while resuming a running program. (Last updated: Aug. 23)

I thought I saw him (India) in the dugout over the week-end. I guess because they were in AZ.

Keeping Hopkins over Mancini makes no sense.

They said that he's with the team in SF took batting practice before the game. They said he would need 4 or 5 rehab games whenever he's cleared to play again

Yeah, he needs to replace Hopkins today. Hopkins brings nothing. Maybe Mancini can provide some sort of boost.

It would seem to me that Hopkins and Fairchild are somewhat redundant -- right-handed hitting outfielders who can play all three OF positions and whose primary tools are speed and defense. Fairchild seems to be the better and more proven hitter, though. Mancini for Hopkins seems to be the logical move -- and maybe Mancini might be able to bring some thunder to the roster, though he might also be Wil Myers: Part Deux.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

I have a pet peeve about picking on the last guy on the roster. Hopkins v Mancini is not the problem with the Reds. Indeed Hopkins hardly ever plays. Do Reds even face another lefty for awhile?

The spotlight guys who strike out constantly; the big name young pitchers always hurt; the bullpen on fumes. Those are among the real problems.

At this point might as well bring Barrero up and send Hopkins down.. see what he has before end of season

I haven't seen all of his at-bats, but I have yet to see one single quality at-bat at the major league level from Hopkins. I was completely convinced that he should have been given a chance based on his AAA results, but he's in way over his head in the Majors mentally.
