I'd be shocked if he has a .700 lifetime OPS. His best comp is probably Billy Hamilton. Strong Defender, base stealer, no ability to hit. Maybe some team as cheap as the Reds will put a guy like that in CF every day. but even the cheap Reds didn't think he was worth protecting.

Yeah. Cave's probably a better hitter. Seemed to me like another Ryan LaMarre type.

    LHP Brandon Williamson
    Expected return: Sept. 12

Williamson was back at Great American Ball Park on Sept. 8 to throw and work out with the club. The hope is he could be ready in time to face the Tigers on Sept. 12. He was the fourth player to test positive for COVID-19 in the recent Reds' outbreak; he was placed on the IL on Sept. 2. (Last updated: Sept. 8)

    RHP Ben Lively
    Expected return: TBD

Lively went on the COVID IL on Sept. 1. He made just one appearance -- covering 5 2/3 innings on Aug. 26 at Arizona -- since a 24-day stint on the injured list with a right pectoral muscle strain from Aug. 2-25. (Last updated: Sept. 1)

RHP Graham Ashcraft (stress reaction in right big toe)
    Expected return: TBD

Ashcraft exited his start after five-plus innings on Sept. 1 due to pain in his right big toe, and was diagnosed with a stress reaction the next day. Before he was placed on the IL, he was the only member of the Reds’ April rotation still on the active roster. While manager David Bell was optimistic that Ashcraft could return before the end of the season, it is certainly not guaranteed. (Last updated: Sept. 2)

Outfielder Stuart Fairchild back from bout with COVID, with Louisville for rehab games. Lefty Alex Young (also COVID list) is back to rehab assignment with Louisville, too.
I think that's the end of the people who were put on the Covid list, unless I'm forgetting someone.

I don’t expect Fairchild back unless there’s an injury. The Reds are paying real money for Renfroe and Bader. Don’t see a spot open for another dedicated outfield-only RHH player.

Alex Young, OTOH, should be back if he’s healthy and would be quite valuable. Not only is he another lefty, but he allows Reds to use, say, Duarte more freely and then swap his roster spot with Alex.

I don’t see a spot for Newman, already at AAA rehab, unless there’s an injury. They could swap him out with Senzel, but Nick plays both IF and OF which gives him an edge, and he’s continued to hit lefty pitching pretty well.

Young, Phillips back to the Reds

Bader to the IL (groin strain)
    Spiers optioned
This will not change until the Reds win the World Series.......
