117.7 mph and 450 feet on that Elly De La Cruz home run!

    Syracuse announcer:

“Elly De La Cruz will be one of the faces of Major League Baseball very soon.” #Reds
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

EDLC with a Three True Outcomes evening. 2 walks, 2 strike outs and his 8th home run of the season.

I think he had only one strike out. He also got picked off first base.

The Reds minor league system has
been buzzed before with talent. They are currently flat out blind drunk with ballers now. Up and down. Hitting, pitching, fielding.

What position on defense would be the safest place for an offensive force to play to keep him from getting injured besides DH? That's where I would put EDLC.

Random note...Louisville is now 24-23, the first time they've been over .500 at any point since 2016. An astounding run of futility but also impressive they've climbed over .500 after a 2-11 start.
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"

That, to me, is perhaps the mot impressive area wherein CES and EDLC shine-- they seem to help win games.

It's not just them, of course, but they plug holes and steal victories like true stars. Maybe that won't happen in the majors-- it probably won't happen-- but it's nice to see in Louisville, at any rate.

I agree. They're both big boppers like Perez and Bench. They can carry a teams offense.

James Free is having a quiet breakout this season, hitting over .300 with an OBP near .400 so far in AA. Last year, he caught the majority of his innings. This year, he's caught three innings total.

He'd be a far more interesting prospect as a catcher.

I really liked him at 3rd next to McLain in AAA. His arm plays better there. He's a good defensive shortstop... that said how he turned double plays was less than elegant.

If we can trade Senzel for a bullpen arm I'd do it and put him at 3rd, move Steer to RF and put CES at first. Infield of CES, India, McLain and EDLC. That's a 5 year run that could be very interesting to watch. Go sign a thumper in the OF and a starter with some real bull pen pitchers. Of course after about 4-5 years we'll get to watch them in Mets and Dodger uniforms too....

He's come on strong lately and has been very good. The one that gets overlooked is T.J. Hopkins in AAA. He's at .333 and has been consistent all season. Hard to find him between the 450' homers and triples to the right fielder however.

Hopkins has taken a huge leap forward this season, with declining K totals and a massive BB/9 bump.

If this is the new Hopkins, he's a first division starter.

That's likely caused by optics-- he's just so daggone big and gangly that he doesn't look like most of the other SS.

This was the same issue with Cal Ripken when he was a prospect and early as an Oriole. Used to lithe, balletic SS, baseball scouts took some convincing that a big guy could man the position effectively. Analytics helped.

CES has been nominated for the MiLB Defensive Play of the Week. Go to MiLB.com to check it out. Pretty sweet play.
