For the record both EDLC and Steer average an EBH every 10 PAs, if EDLC had 350 PAs he'd likely have 30 steals too.. which is hella cool

It's all so very very cool. Like, giggle out of nowhere when you think on it, cool.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

I'm not comparing their performance but the level of attention. I'm just saying the Steer deserves his due. I'm the first to admit that when I ordered a jersey a couple weeks ago, it was a #44.

I am just saying Steer can get his due without lamenting that EDLC is somehow getting too much. They are all excellent. At least on this board, we can avoid pitting them against each other.

I’m neither lamenting nor pitting. I’m just making the point that Steer is flying around the radar in the national media.

And i believe that is a very good thing and I earnestly hope that continues. Steer, McLain, Benson and to a lesser extent, Abbott all benefit from the fact that LED monopolizes the spotlight of the national media. They get to learn and develop their craft without as much constant critique.

One need only look at the growing amount of jewelry around his neck to see that LED invites and revels in the spotlight. It motivates him. At the same time, the team first mission focus of the others keeps LED from escaping to his own little world.

I love the resulting symbiosis, and believe it contributes to all of their success.

After going 4 for 4 I think he needs to keep those extra red-white-and-blue beads! Honestly I think some of Elly’s struggles early on were due to the pressure of all the attention. I think he was pressing. It seems he’s adapting well. I honestly love all these rookies!

He's hitting .308. If people would stop reacting negatively and over-the-top to perfectly normal 0 for 4s it would be so helpful.

How in the hell did Minnesota let Steer (and CES) get out of the farm system? They wanted Mahle that bad? lol

Steer was the centerpiece. CES was a throw in essentially. Madness I tell you.

I think Hajjar was the throw-in with Steer and CES as the main pieces. The Reds mostly got panned for that return, including on here, as it lacked a "Top 5 guy" from the Twins system so it is a testament to the Reds scouting staff that it now looks like highway robbery. Gotta hand it to them.

Yes. I hated it a first blush but warmed up to it as soon as I saw clips of CES.

    Acuna
    H. Rodriguez
    Marte
    Arroyo
    Stoudt
    Steer
    CES
    Acosta

That was quite the deadline for Krall and the scouting dept.

at the time of the trade - MLBPipeline rankings with color commentary

Steer - No. 7 (Round: 3, Overall Pick: 90, big riser in the system, added pop to solid all-around skillset in high Minors)

Hajjar - No. 18 (big lefty, Twins' 2nd-rounder in '21)

Encarnacion-Strand - No. 23 (4th rounder has done nothing but rake in pros)

    Bobby Nighengale said

The Cincinnati #Reds received three of the #Mariners top 5 prospects for Luis Castillo, and three of the #Twins top 14 prospects in the Tyler Mahle trade. They could be dangerous in a couple of years.
    yeah wrong take there buddy.

Trades, much like the draft are not an exact science, guys sometimes look good and end up bad players and sometimes guys that look like they'd be average at best become superstars.
