No Spencer Steer today after yesterday’s quad injury. Stuart Fairchild moves up to second in the order, and Nick Senzel starts at third.

An unorthodox lineup construction today, likely because the Rays are using an opener.

I will say that there are only two places in the known solar system where Kevin Newman hits 5th and I've not been to both of those places.
Quantum computing promises to be a revolutionary tool, making short work of equations that classical computers would struggle to ever complete. Yet the workhorse of the quantum device, known as a qubit, is a delicate object prone to collapsing.

Lefty or righty, opener or starter, trying to rest guys or not I still struggle with the idea that Kevin Newman is a DH for a major league baseball team.

He’s not and carrying 3 catchers because TS might get hurt us one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of.

I see no way the Reds don’t score 10+ today

Reds injury updates: Lucas Sims is here in Cincinnati and he’s expected to be activated from the IL on Wednesday.

Spencer Steer is day to day with a sore knee.

I know, right. Against a 14-2 team. Maybe the bullpen will give up less than 10.

Tampa Bay Rays to Call Up Top Pitching Prospect Taj Bradley to Start vs. Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday

Bradley is the team's overall number one prospect and is ranked No. 18 in baseball, per the MLB.com rankings.

For more on Bradley, from those prospect rankings:

"After experiencing a velocity bump in late 2020, the 6-foot-2 right-hander now throws 94-96 mph with his heater, touching 98, and he spots it well around the zone. He calls his best secondary pitch a cutter, and we’ll do the same, even though it could land in the slider territory. All the same, the mid-80s offering breaks late and plays well off the fastball. An 89-91 mph split-finger changeup doesn’t offer a ton of separation but has given Bradley another suitable fading option against lefties, while his mid-70s curve is more for show in early counts.

Bradley hasn’t averaged more than 2.7 BB/9 in any of his full-season stops, and his athletic delivery should continue to help keep him throwing strikes."

For sure it is dumber than dummer dumb. The best catcher on the team should not ever be used as the DH when the alternatives are filler players. If you want to use TS every day and can put him at first base, that works. If you have that, then what's Vosler doing? If this is a wait-for-Votto moment, that should be taken off the table today.

If Stephenson does not want to play 1B, then he needs to catch. If they are letting a player manipulate the roster, then replace the player or the people who are being manipulated. Casali is an OK-to-sometimes-not-terrible backup catcher and he was better than Barnhart a lot of the time.

Dunno ... if this is a matter of not finding anybody in the organization who can upgrade the roster, there are 29 other franchises out there. Go shopping.

No team should be using their catcher as a DH.

    Not really ever.

It must be because he has been really hot at the plate.

No 1 for 6 is only hot compared to David Bells career.
