He’s been a positive producer for the Reds so far this season, on pace for around 1.5 fWAR. That is well beyond what anyone here expected from him at the start of the season.

We have 70% of the season left, I’m not drawing any conclusions on anyone in terms of where they fit in the Reds future right now. Senzel could end up back where we expected, below replacement level, or he could stay about where he is, or he could continue to improve. We’ll see.

I was one of the "keep Senzel at 3B" guys.

I think LF wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Maybe he can be a great platoon guy in the OF and IF?

Once Reds ownership decides to bring up the #1 prospect in AAA, that is... Whenever that is....

I like this. I was a keep Senzel at 3rd guy also. But, I would move India to Third instead of LF and put Senzel in LF/Platoon with Fraley and Utilty Role makes more sense with #1 prospect in baseball being brought up to play SS and McLain to 2nd.

This keeps your clubhouse leader (India) on the infield playing a position he knows. BTW, I hate when India does not leadoff.

Senzel had another 2-out RBI hit today. He just keeps coming through in the clutch this month. I'd be shocked if he wasn't hitting around .400 w/ RISP this month.

Greene dominates, bats pound out 19 hits as Reds smoke Cubs 9-0
In what was no doubt their best combined pitching and hitting performance of the season, the Reds ran roughshod over the Cubs Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field winning 9-0.

Hunter Greene fired six no-hit innings with 11 strikeouts, while the Reds offense piled up 19 hits, with nine different Reds contributing hits. Six different players compiled multi-hit days. The Reds offense did it all without aid of a home run.

Brilliant: Greene 6 IN, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 11 K, 110 pitches/67 strikes. The Cubs put just four balls in play, all in the infield.

The Reds bludgeoned Cubs starter Justin Steele, who entered the game 6-1 with a 2.21 ERA. He gave up two runs in the 1st, one in the 3rd, and was done after allowing three more in the 4th inning. 3.2 IN, 10 H, 6 R.

Four Reds collected three hits...Tyler Stephenson (2B, R, 2 RBI), Spencer Steer (3B, RBI, R), Stuart Fairchild reached base four times (2B, BB, R), Matt McLain reached base four times (BB. R).

That's two three hit games this week for Fairchild--three straight multi-hit games for Steer, who also extended his career high hit streak to 9 games.... and three straight two hit games for Newman. Steer missed the cycle by a HR.

Lucky charm: The Reds are now 11-5 when Casali starts behind the plate, winning 7 in a row and 8 of 9. He's caught all three shutouts this season.

His profile is exactly the same though. He's mashing LHP but they are just exposing him to more RHP in May and it's dragging his numbers down. I don't think a short side platoon guy who plays 3B and CF is a bad piece. Is that a core piece? Comes down to price

Reds' young offense has them in NL Central mix
Amid preseason talk about the Reds rebuilding and coming off a 100-loss season, little consideration was given to the idea they could be in the hunt in the National League Central this year.

Yet, here they are. Rebuilding … and contending?

Sunday's 8-5 victory over the Cubs completed a three-game sweep in which Cincinnati hitters scored 25 runs with 45 hits. It was their first series sweep at Wrigley Field since Aug. 12-14, 2013.

Although five games under .500 at 24-29, the Reds sit third in a weakened division and trail the first-place Brewers by four games. As recently as Thursday, the Reds were tied for the worst record in the NL.

As talk intensifies about top prospect Elly De La Cruz and when he might get called up from Triple-A Louisville, the Reds have young hitters already handling their business in the big leagues.

Wow! 10 years since a series sweep in Wrigley. That's just way too long for that not to have happened. That just shows how special this group is, and the potential for a miracle season.

What's really good to me is how much team speed they now have with more speedsters on the way.

    @Nicholaspkirby

The Cincinnati Reds are up to 3rd in MLB in OBP (.333).

That is pretty incredible considering that Nick Senzel is the only regular player who has reached arbitration.

    Reds OBP leaders:

    McLain .456
    Friedl .384
    India .376
    Steer .352
    Fairchild .346
    Fraley .339
    Senzel .337
    MLB AVERAGE .320

    Reds Offense
    3/30 - 4/23:
    .231/.313/.344

    4/24 - 5/30:
    .274/.346/.422

Amazing what happens when you quit giving as many at bats to turrible hitters.

After all these years, Votto finally convinced the rest of the Reds to read Moneyball.

The Reds entered Wednesday batting .255 with a .741 OPS with two outs. Their 105 RBIs with two outs (43.4 percent of their total RBIs) were tied with the Red Sox for seventh in the Majors. On Wednesday, Cincinnati recorded all four of its RBIs with two outs.

Thoughts on why Stephenson is struggling at the plate thus far? Always thought he'd be a hitter that flirts with .300 plus and hits 20 to 25 bombs. His timing seems off and he looks like he's confused up there.

Probably coming back from a collar home break has something to do with it.
