I want to give the middle manager a piece of my mind for sitting Friedl.

Luke Maile is unbelievably slow. That was a nice play & all, but shouldn’t have been close.

Watching this team hit is a frustrating endeavor.

I don't know all the limitations that FO's place on managers but ... this steaming pile of rubbish in the 6-7-8-9 ... there is really zero excuse for players on a big league roster to be this completely inept. I mean the occasional slump is one thing, but wow.

@kinsm can elaborate more on this lineup topic. He has worked for the Pirates behind the scenes.
Might have been before baseball totally went the route it goes now though?

It’s one of the reasons the Yankees replaced Girardi with Boone. They wanted someone that would follow the front office’s instructions.

Variations on the theme -- Lyon Richardson is making his Double-A debut tonight for the Nooga-boos.

Bell is the middle manager. He's implement policies decided by the front office. He probably had a say in those policies, but I'm sure it was a group decision including Krall and other baseball guys. In the game, he works within those parameters. One parameter might have been that they were going to platoon in the outfield, so he does that.

No wonder I hate middle managers. What are the middle managers gonna do when the next big CME takes away their computers for a decade? Phil, where are we gonna go, post-CME?

    Score update...?

This Josh Smith has a real Archibald “Moonlight” Graham quality to him.
