    4/29 Saturday Game Thread

The Louisville-Iowa game will be the Free Game of the Day on Milb.com. The game starts at 4:08 PM EDT. Watch the Alpha-Beta Boys in action - EDLC and CES - along with Matt McLain and others. I think all you need is to make an account on Milb.com, and you are good to go.

    Blake Dunn has a 2B (2), a HR (4), and a SB (11). The One-Man Team is winning against The Captains, 3-2.

Speaking of Dunn, what's a guy got to do to get a promotion? He's in the Midwest League's top 10 in every major category. He's also second in SB (11) and has only been caught once. He currently has a 10:12 BB:K ratio. His professional career BB rate is exceptional, at 15.4%. His K rate is nearly as good: 21.6%.

He's also 24. Chattanooga desperately needs offense. Time to move the kid up.

The Bats are in a weather delay right now. The prognosis is good, though, for getting this game in.

I must not possess any meterological acumen, because it seems more than likely that this game is not going to proceed.

The sun is shining, and the players are on the field warming up. Play ball!

Brandon Willaimson struck out the first batter, and then 8 consecutive reached. He looked horrible. I don't know what he normally throws, but I didn't see a pitch over 93. Daniel Duarte came out of the pen carrying a can of gasoline with him. 8-0 Bats trail after one.

Brandon Williamson is an enormous disappointment. Trending into "middle inning reliever is a best-case scenario" territory.

Not all guys are going to hit. But you gotta wonder what’s going on there after the crazy K rate in Seattle.

Elly Homered. At least something good happened in the Bats game.

The comeback is on. CES single and TJ Hopkins double and its now 14-2.

That's Hopkins' 2nd double of the game.

Yeah I'm of the same opinion, anything you can get out of him now is just a bonus. He seems like a lost cause.

I hate how the Reds will trade for prospects and then just sit back and hope it works. Prospect for prospect trades are a thing!

For as much angst as the FO has provided, they have to be severely criticized for allowing Karcher and Strickland to draw a paycheck.
Karcher is long past being a joke.
Strickland needed to go in March.

Williamson was worth the gamble. I don't know if he still is.

Wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Williamson is injured, maybe even hiding it.

He’s such a mess now, he either figures it out and becomes a decent MLB starter or he never makes in the majors. I can’t see him succeeding as a MLB reliever the way he is now.

If Abbott and Richardson (which to hope for both is a tall ask) can find their way to Cincinnati in the next year and succeed we could be looking at a homegrown 5-man rotation that arrived over a 3 year period.

If that happens the organization gets a “get out of jail free card” in regards to pitching development for 5 years or so. It would be wildly impressive.

The Reds farm system is struggling to post numbers in the win column so far:

    Louisville - 9-16 - last place.
    Chattanooga - 10-10 - 3rd of 4 in their division.
    Dayton - 7-13 - 5th of 6 in their division.
    Daytona - 7-12 3rd of 4 in their division.
    Cumulative record - 33-51.
