I always thought of San Diego as a low budget team but they only trail the Mets in terms of payroll

Bell is doing what the Reds did with Winker starting out. Platooned him and he never got reps against LH pitching. I think Bell just does it so everybody gets to play. He’s running the team like upwards basketball.

Bell has a fairly weak hitting team so he’s going with the percentages. Left on left is the worst hitting matchup in baseball.

It’s not that compelling in this case because Reds’ RHH are not exactly powerhouses.

But he generally inserts Friedl and Fraley as soon as a righty reliever enters, often in the middle innings.

Let’s see if Weaver can give us 7 good innings and hopefully get the win then the Reds start Ashcraft tomorrow.

A very efficient 1-2-3 top of the first for Snell; just 8 pitches

    Weaver’s mowing them down.

Weaver so far not as efficient as Snell, nor as effective.
