The KC Royals have 2 catchers on their roster. MJ Melendez and Sal. Perez. They both play almost every day.
Why can't the Reds just have Stephenson and Maile? Maile is younger and better than a washed up Casli. I don't get the need for 3.
If a injury happens. Call up someone from AAA.
Just because you had so many injuries last year at catcher is no reason to carry 3 catchers.

They’re outsmarting themselves. You don’t carry an extra player so a maybe 280 hitter with no power doesn’t get hurt playing his position. With our payroll and talent you just can’t do that and give yourself a built in disadvantage.
