Daytona continues to sink into the abyss. They jumped ahead 4-0 to no avail, falling 13-5. That drops their record to 9-17, after a 5-0 start to the campaign.

On the mound, Joseph Menefee worked 3 scoreless, punching out 6. Everyone else stunk.

    8 base hits, all singled.

Valdez, Jorge and Stewart collected two each. Carlos Jorge is hitting .321 with an OPS of up over .900.

Daytona and Palm Beach are in the middle of a 33-game series.

Gotta say this about Levi Stoudt. If he wants to make the Reds, throwing 43 strikes out of 82 pitches is not gonna get it done. Fly balls to the warning track are outs but just barely.

Strand hit a 490-foot foul ball. Strike one.

Joel Kuhnel isn't the worst pitcher the Bats have. It's hard to believe they have a couple who are worse.

EDLC just added a HR to go with his earlier double.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

EDLC is really a freakish talent. His double was 110 mph and he had a throw from third clocked at 99.2. Oh and he's one of the fastest players in baseball as well. If he ever puts it all together we might see what a healthy Eric Davis career would've looked like.

Here’s a link to the ELDC HR

It was 116.3 mph off the bat - the 4th hardest hit AAA ball since they started tracking such things…

Don't look now, but Noelvi Marte OPS up to .805. Guess the slow start was just that. Early season small samples....

Marte and McLain each made his sixth error of the season yesterday, each with 5 at shortstop.

Interesting (especially concerning McLain). I don't think the org expects Marte to stick at SS.

Really curious to know who the Reds want as their franchise SS. Barrero? More and more likely that is a no. McLain? He could be solid, not flashy. EDLC? High upside but might be better at 3B or CF. Arroyo? Too far away to even consider.

    EDLC for now, I suspect.

Arroyo, assuming he's legit, later on. Maybe.

McLain can play there, but he's better suited to 2B.

Marte can stand there, but he's better suited to 3B.

The next defensive issue will be getting McLain into second base and finding a defensive home for India.

It may be Reds intend to trade India in a deal for a good young veteran SP (Mat Latos type deal). But JI is a good hitter, plays his butt off, leader, and I hope they keep him. Somewhere.
