    5/10 Wednesday Minor League Happenings..

Dayton 5 Peoria 1. The Dragons take their matinee in style. Chase Petty made his 2023 debut a successful one. 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. Carson Rudd came on in relief and pitched 4 innings of 1-hit, shutout ball, fanning 7. Donovan Benoit worked a shutout 9th to lower his ERA to 2.31 on the season.

Not much was going on offensively. Michael Trautwein jacked his 3rd of the year while driving home 3 runs.
Austin Hendrick singled to run his hitting streak to 10 games.
Edwin Arroyo continues to hit like Alfredo Rodriguez. Not good. He is only 19 however.

Louisville 5 Columbus 1. The Bats take their matinee by the same score.

It was a bullpen day of sorts. Randy Wynne (3), Zack Brown (3), Silvino Bracho (1), Daniel Duarte (1) and Alan Busenitz (1) all got to strut their stuff, holding Columbus to 1 run.

Not much noise from the sticks here either. 5 runs on 4 hits is efficient. 13 Ks is no bueno.
Matt McLain launched number 11 for Louisville.
Will Benson walked 3 times. That raised his OBP to .414.
    CES laced a 2-run single.
Jhonny Pereda singled and walked. Pereda is OPSing .992 now. Babe Robinson is checking in with an OPS of 1.083. Bats backstops are ripping it up this season. Alas, the parent club is swimming in catchers at the moment.

They were facing one of the very best pitching prospects in baseball. The 5 runs is noteworthy.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

It's absolutely absurd that McLain hasn't been called up yet.

A 1-0 Louisville game going into the bottom of the 8th.

When's the last time that happened?

I'm thinking we're going to have back-to-back International League Players-of-the-Week Awards with EDLC earning it for this week. It's early in the week, but he's got a huge jump.

Yop. Gavin Williams. Cleveland's #2 (#36 in baseball) prospect. He had a 97-100mph fastball and a knee buckling curve coming in around 77-79mph. Aslo has a slider & change (both in the 80's) He struck out every Bat player at least once except McLain & Benson. Elly & Perada looked particularly out of sync swinging at the curve. Elly also kept chasing the high (out of the zone) fastball though he did hit one on the screws in his 3rd AB but it was right at the CF. In 5 2/3 innings Williams struck out 10, walked 2, gave up 2 hits, and took the loss.

Bats did most of their damage against the 'pen.
