Missed the game, but it looks like Lively and Herget had great games today. They ised 4 pitchers but really saved the pen.

They seriously need to bring up McLane and trade for another starter and see what happens.

Really a shame that management didn't try just a little bit, especially leaving those holes at #4 and #5 in the rotation. This division is not very good. Barring a 27 game winning streak by the Cards in September, 85 or 86 wins may take this thing.

Reds should sign The Opener to a long term contract. Best pitching performance of the season.

I'd call up McClain up for SS tomorrow and let him play every day. Move Barrero to CF while Friedl is out. I'd let Steer play 1st until CES is called up.

Reds shutout Mets and take series
The Reds reached Mets starter Kodai Senga for four runs in the first inning and made it stand up to shutout the Mets 5-0 and take the series Thursday afternoon at GABP. Pitching in the big leagues for the first time since 2019, Ben Lively tossed three shutout innings for his first ML win since 2017.
David Bell pieced together 27 outs with Derek Law serving as the opener and Kevin Herget pitching the final three innings for his first ML save.

The Mets entered the series with the best all-time winning percentage among opposing NL team at GABP (38-22 .633).

Counting outs: Law 4, Lively 9, Lucas Sims 5, Kevin Herget 9.....

    Run production:
1st: Jake Fraley RBI single, Nick Senzel RBI 2B, Kevin Newman 2-run 1B......4-0
5th: Spencer Steer solo homer (5)......5-0

Ben Lively tossed 3.0 scoreless innings in his Reds debut. He was originally a 4th round pick of the Reds in 2013. But was dealt to the Phillies in exchange for Marlon Byrd.

    He's back: Sims has tossed 10 scoreless innings, 2 H, 13 K.

Eight is great: Jonathan India doubled to start the game and to extend his hit streak to eight game. He had a two hit day.

    Jake rakes: Fraley 2 H, R, RBI.

Back into the swing of things? Tyler Stephenson followed a two walk night last night with a two hit game Thursday.

Nice: Henry Ramos fired a seed to the plate to cut down Francisco Alvarez in the 7th, with a nice pick and swipe tag added by Curt Casali.
